The big bad Viprion!

Viprion Failover:

* The Standby cluster (chassis) monitors the Active cluster using either the cluster IP address, or the self IP address of VLAN HA.

Setting up a pair of Viprions in a redundant state requires a number of components to be configured and/or considered:

* Failover IP address;
* HA Group;
* Synchronization of configurations;
* Failback is also known as preemption, that is, when a failover has occured and the previously available cluster is available again, the original Active unit will become Active again.
* HA Group: A collection of Big-IP objects whose health is checked (HA score) to determine the initiation of a failover event.
* Network Mirroring: Where connections on the Active unit are mirrored to the standby unit.
* Fail-safe: A custom monitor defined by the administrator used to help determine the occurence of a failover event.

Cluster IP address: "F5 Networks strongly recommends that you define a management IP address for each slot. By doing so, you ensure that you can access any blade in the cluster if access through the cluster IP address is unsuccessful.

Important: All management IP addresses for the individual cluster members (slots) must be on the same network as the cluster IP address. Also, the gateway and netmask for the cluster IP address become the default values for the gateway and netmask for each individual management IP address."
